Received a letter stating that I didn't make my payment for August 2024. I faxed paperwork from my bank account, and guess what—it was paid. Now, I have to get them to remove the late payment fee and also have it removed from the three credit bureaus.

Terrible card, but I closed my account with little problem. They changed the monthly fee and claimed to notify me by email. I only continued to pay the card in full by autopay at the original rate. They say the rate went up in June, but the autopay did not reflect the increase. I found this error using WalletHub. Thank you.

Closed my account due to 'unexpected activity', but couldn't tell me exactly what the unexpected activity was. No fraud on my account or misuse.

Was told it was not a hard inquiry, but it was, and a card was even opened. Now we are going to have to pay over $50 just for seeking a quote with LeafFilter. Everything was misrepresented, and the company will not cancel that account.

Fortiva has the worst credit card I've ever seen and the poorest customer service. They charge all of their customers a $10 maintenance fee monthly. Your balance will always exist until you close the account. They also penalize you for paying more than half of your balance by not making your new balance available for 4 days. That is wrong and should be investigated by the FTC, and they should not be allowed to operate in the United States. This is a predatory company that targets vulnerable individuals, including the poor and the elderly. Please shut them down.

Shady company. I received an offer from this card about five years ago when I was just establishing my credit. They offered me a $2,000 credit line with no annual fee. At the time, all I had was a $500 secured credit card, so this was a great opportunity to build credit. I now have well over $50,000 of revolving credit at my disposal, near an 800 FICO score, and no problem getting $10,000 and $15,000 credit lines from American Express and mainstream banks. Some of my credit cards pay me back 5% or 6%, and none pay me back less than 3%. However, building my credit was no thanks to them. It was in spite of their efforts and due instead to my meticulous management of my credit. After my first year of having the card, they added a $5/month fee. I rarely used the card but kept it and paid the fee so it could continue reporting on my credit reports and contribute to my length of history and available credit. In hindsight, I realize I could have gotten the same or better deal from more mainstream financial institutions that provide better service, had I only applied. Every time I log onto their website, I laugh at all of the worthless or unnecessary services they try to sell—some which they already must provide you for free as mandated by federal law—that are a complete rip-off, the outrageous interest they charge, the complete absence of any rewards, and the knowledge that nobody is there behind the website. If your transaction doesn't fit neatly into their automation, don't expect any service. In fact, once there was an unauthorized charge on my account, and they completely bungled the investigation and handling of it, as per federal law, which required a complaint to be lodged with the CFPB before they finally resolved it. A secondary complaint was recently filed with the CFPB because they raised the $5 monthly maintenance fee to $7.50 without notice. For those not well-advised and new to credit, they will ruin you and take advantage of you. Their ethics are poor, and their service is nearly non-existent.

Just found out from calling them that my interest rate is 35% and a $54.00 annual fee was added on this month. I had my bill close to being paid off, and they keep raising their fees and rates, even though I have a good credit score. I am livid with this company! Do not get this card. It's not worth it.

I paid my card off and it shows that it's paid off, but they are making my credit score drop. I called and spoke with someone a while back, and they said they were going to fix it. Am I the only one having this problem?

I had a card with them for three years and was never late on a payment. My balance was about $1,200, so I sent them a check to pay off my balance. I called repeatedly to see if they had received the check because my balance never went down. After three weeks of not receiving the check, I told them I would cancel it and overnight them another one. I did so; they received it, cashed it, and brought my balance down to $50.
Well, then they received the check that was lost in the mail and tried to cash it, even though they knew it was a canceled check. When the check came back canceled, they canceled my account. All they had to do was look in the notes to see why they received a canceled check. I tried to explain it to someone, but nobody would listen. They tried to charge me an extra $150 in maintenance fees on a closed account. Stay away from these people; they do not care.

Fortiva is the worst credit card to have. The interest rates are too high and they will close your account if you fall behind. I had a card with them for several years and paid on time. Then I got injured and was not working full time, and I got behind on payments a couple of times, but I always caught up on my payments. Then one day, they just closed my account, causing my credit score to drop drastically. Do not use them; it's not worth it.

Is the Fortiva Cash Card a Visa or Mastercard?

The Fortiva Credit Card is a Mastercard, not a Visa. You can use your Fortiva Credit Card at nearly 11 million merchants that accept Mastercard nationwide, and you can use it abroad in more than 200 countries and territories.
There are a few differences between Visa and Mastercard credit cards, such as the network-level benefits they offer, but those differences are relatively small. The two card networks have a lot in common, including extensive worldwide acceptance. As a result, it's more worthwhile to compare individual credit card offers than to focus on getting a card from a particular network.
