Upon completion, a pigsty will contain a storage sack allowing for 50 kg of storage, have 1 worker slot and 1 slot for an apprentice, and can house up to 5 pigs.

You need an adult male and an adult female, and feed for them in their trough. That's all. You do NOT need a worker, but then you need to put the feed in their trough yourself, as this is now needed for breeding since a recent patch. Other than that, it's a random chance.

Pigs produces 1 manure per the animal breeder's farming skill level each in-game hour at 100% work intensity, providing the animal breeder is employed to feed the pigs and collect the manure. This means an animal breeder with a farming skill of 3 will collect 30 manure per day as they work for 10 in-game hours/day.

With adequate space, good fencing, a reasonable shelter, access to food and water, and a shady wallow, you've got everything you need to start raising pigs. As a reminder, pigs don't like to be solitary animals, so if you're going to embark on this adventure, get at least two.

To grow efficiently, pigs need access to feed and water 24 hours a day. This is usually accomplished with a self-feeder which can be purchased at the feed store, or you can build one yourself. The goal of the self-feeder is to allow pigs free choice to eat as much as they want in a day.

How many pigs should you start with? Start small with two to four weaner pigs, typically purchased in the spring and raised until market weight (late fall). This will give you an opportunity to understand the requirements and commitment required in raising pigs.

Food, water, air, and shelter are the basic needs of pigs. Pigs also need space, social interaction, and treatment for injuries or disease. Modern pig barns protect pigs from weather, disease, and predators.

The three methods of breeding are pen mating (boar run with females), hand mating (supervised natural mating), and AI. Pen mating is generally found on smaller operations and works best in a pen of pigs in various stages of the estrous cycle.

Wild pigs can live in a wide variety of habitats, from grassy savanna areas to swamplands to wooded forests. All of these habitats have two things in common though: water and vegetation. Having water nearby gives them plenty of chances to drink and cool off during the day.

This includes their need to exhibit normal behaviour patterns; their need to be housed with, or apart from, other animals; their need for a suitable environment; an appropriate diet and to be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease.
